CD(DONA), Childbirth Educator
What draws me to birth work?
The story of why I became a doula is a simple; I was formerly working in the mining engineering sector and something was missing for me. I longed for passion, excitement, and a unique spark in my career. While pregnant with my daughter, I began to seek information and ways to calm the fears that I had about my own upcoming birth journey - and that's when I heard "the call." I became passionate about empowering expectant families and helping them to discover the strength and power within themselves. For me, the journey to motherhood was profound and transformative. And, just like that, my new career path was very clear!
It is a privilege to support a birthing person in finding their inner strength, overcome their fears, rise above their greatest challenges, and welcome their baby into the world.
Originally from Ontario, my husband and I have made our home in the heart of Edmonton and have two young kiddos of our own. I am actively involved in the birth community, working as a Certified Birth Doula with DONA International and a former Birthing From Within Doula & Educator. I have attended the Spinning Babies® Workshop and am a proud member of the Doula Association of Edmonton, the Doula Association of Alberta and the Association for Safe Alternatives in Childbirth (ASAC).
Through my training and my experiences clients, I have gained valuable knowledge in cesarean birth, plus size birth, preterm birth & premature babies, twins, high risk pregnancies, induced labours, VBAC, breech, birth centre, home, and hospital births, and more.
